giuseppe pane, hotel director onboard msc grandiosa,
explains life onboard

May 2021

It’s been a year of unprecedented difficulty for the travel industry, a year in which we have had to adapt to new realities and invent new ways of protecting our guests onboard. Our health and safety protocol, leader in the cruise industry, has allowed one of our newest ships, MSC Grandiosa to have almost continuously sail the Western Mediterranean since August last year.

Hotel Director onboard MSC Grandiosa, Giuseppe Pane, answered some of the most crucial questions anyone considering a cruise this summer might have. Let’s hear what he had to say!

On Health & Safety Onboard

We have put in place health and safety measures that encompass every aspect of life on board -from protected excursions and newly designed activities through to social distancing and enhanced sanitation on board, we’ve thought of everything. COVID tests are done for all guests before embarkation and we monitor the health of our guests and crew on board. Perhaps most importantly, these measures have been put in place in a sensitive way, so we can ensure that none will have an impact on your holiday with us and you can cruise with confidence.

On Entertainment Onboard

While some favourites onboard like the White Party and Oktoberfest will have to wait, we have come up with an entertainment plan that will not disappoint. We’ve thought up new activities that ensure social distancing and have reduced capacity in our theatres, showing shows twice a week to make sure everyone can enjoy them in total safety. It’s been exciting being able to introduce brand new activities and we’re constantly coming up with more!

On getting back onboard

We were the first cruise line to bring a ship back to the seas last August and have continued to sail around the Western Mediterranean since. After these many months of our guests waiting, we are excited to see people boarding at every port, and disembarking having had a fantastic time at sea. The light at the end of the tunnel could be a cruise onboard this summer!

This summer we will see a number of MSC Cruises’ ships back at sea joining MSC Grandiosa in the Mediterranean and visiting Italy, Malta, Croatia, Greece and Montenegro.
