Innovation and tradition at
MSC Seashore's Float Out

An important moment in the tradition of any new ship’s construction, the float out of MSC Cruises’ ground-breaking vessel, MSC Seashore, took place this 20th August.

MSC Seashore is the third in the Seaside ship class, the longest of the whole MSC Cruises fleet and the largest ever to be built in Italy. For ship builders Fincantieri the float out means that one part of the enormous amount of work needed to build a cruise ship capable of hosting almost 6,000 guests, is over, though much work must still be done to make the July 2021 deadline.

MSC Cruises’ Executive Chairman Pierfrancesco Vago stated that the event showed continued dedication to innovation in the cruising world, and a continued belief in the growth of the sector. All this comes of course after a very successful return to the seas of MSC Grandiosa, who began her first tour of the Western Mediterranean from Genova on the 16th August.

An ‘Eco’ choice in cruising

One of the features of MSC Seashore of which makes the company most proud is its advanced environmental technology.

MSC Seashore showcases cutting-edge hybrid exhaust gas cleaning systems, advanced waste management systems, ballast water treatment systems approved by the United States Coast Guard and numerous effective energy-efficiency improvements – from heat recovery systems to LED lighting to name just a few!  While MSC has a fleet-wide focus on reducing the environmental impact of its ships, MSC Seashore truly showcases how fare technology has come in this regard.

What’s new design-wise?

At 339 meters, MSC’s new flagship will also be the longest in the fleet. And this addition in m2 means even more space onboard to play with!

Here are some of the new features of this incredible new ship:

  • 10,000 m2 extra deck space, meaning an unprecedented square meter per person ratio!
  • A bigger space dedicated to MSC’s premium experience, the Yacht Club
  • A double-decker aft lounge
  • A larger Casino
  • A larger indoor pool
  • An interactive waterpark for kids and young adults
  • Stunning panoramic aft lifts and stylish glass catwalks
  • Al fresco dining and stunning new speciality restaurants

When and Where

MSC Seashore is due to be delivered in July 2021, when she will dedicate her first season to the pearls of the Western Mediterranean, homeporting in Genova and visiting Naples, Messina in Sicily, Valletta in Malta, Barcelona and Marseille.
